All over the Bible we are told to pray. But what are we truly to be praying for? A lot of churches teach that we should pray for what we desire, and then we are to believe that it's already done. Yet, I wonder why they aren't teaching that we should be careful for what we desire. Yes, I agree that we should be specific in our prayers to the Lord. He wants for us to have an open and honest relationship with Him. Yes, I believe that we should tell Him all of our desires. As we give to Him our thoughts, feelings, and desires, we must remember to let go of those things. We must trust the Lord's Sovereign wisdom to sort through all of our human wants, wishes, dreams, and needs, and then by His power, to grant those things that are best for us, and are in accordance to the Father's Will.

Not our will, but the Father's Will be done. Even Jesus had to pray in this manner.

And He said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from Me: nevertheless not what I Will, but what thou Wilt.
~ Mark 14:36 ~ Jesus' Words in italic

 Not even His coming torturous death could make Jesus pray for escape. He knew that the Father's Will must come to pass, even though that meant He would have to endure the greatest pains that anyone has ever felt. Jesus tells us we can pray for ourselves also:

Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.
~ Mark 14:38 ~ Jesus' Words

He knew full well that we in our human flesh constantly are being tempted to let go of the Father's Will, and to please what our carnal bodies desire. We must continually pray that the Lord Will keep us from falling into the enemy's trap of temporal satisfaction, and allow us to spiritually seek what He desires.

For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
For to be carnally minded IS death; but to be spiritually minded IS Life and peace.

~ Romans 8:5-6

Our minds can be changed! by the power which IS in Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior. This takes obedience and discipline:

That ye put off concerning the former conversation of the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
And be renewed  in the spirit of your mind;

And that ye put on the new man, which after God IS created in righteousness and true holiness.
~ Ephesians 4:22-24

Father God, I pray in the Holy Name of Jesus, and I give you thanks and honour, glory and praise, for being our God, for Loving us, for protecting us, for teaching us. Father, I ask that you would continue to change our minds and our hearts to become more like Christ's. Help us to listen for Your Will and not our own, and to be disciplined enough to obey whatsoever You command us. Not our Will LORD, but thine. Thank You, Father. In Jesus' Blessed Name, Amen.
