This then is the message which we have heard of Him, and declare unto you, that God IS Light, and in Him is no darkness at all.
If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the Truth:
But if we walk in the Light, as He IS in the Light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin.
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the Truth is not in us.
If we confess our sins, He IS faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His Word is not in us.
~ I John 1:5-10

Being self-righteous, self-justified, despite our sinful words and actions towards others, then we show others that we are without the Lord Jesus Christ. Instead, we must take honest inventory of ourselves, and humbly admit to the Lord our wrong-doing against Him. If we truly desire to be right with God, this confession to Him who knows all things, frees us from our sins as He forgives us. But then we must obey Him and sin no more.

God is teaching me and my husband more about having discernment, about knowing people by their fruits. Ultimately, God IS the Righteous judge of everyone's souls. Only He can know if and when each person will sincerely ask for forgiveness. So we try not to judge others as though they never have room to be saved. Yet the Lord gives us the wisdom that we ask for. Through His wisdom and guidance, we can know if another is truly walking with Jesus, because we wait and see which direction their words and actions are taking.

At the same time, we ask as individuals and as a married couple for God to keep our hearts honest before Him. If we want others to see the Light of Christ in our walk, we must always examine our attitudes, speech, and behaviors, and promptly bring our transgressions and sins before the King to be forgiven. What we speak and how we conduct ourselves is being seen by many witnesses, and God sees not only this, but what is in our thoughts.

Father God,
I pray in the Name of your Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, that You Will keep us mindful of what wickedness we allow into our minds, and give us the courage, the strength, and the power to extinguish the darkness with Your Holy Light. LORD, make us aware of our sins against You and convict our souls, so that we may come to Your throne and confess them to Jesus. Our lives are Yours, Father. Allow us to truly honor Your Blessed Name by walking in Truth and Light.
Thank You, our Heavenly Father, in Jesus' Name, Amen.
